OUR PHILOSOPHY |
Owning and breeding alpacas is a love story. At Stoney Ridge Alpacas we try to honour the alpaca in all that we do. This begins with the careful selection of mates in the breeding programme, the care and welfare of the animals, the delight at the births, and the careful harvest of the fleece through shearing, skirting and sorting, and finally processing.
It is our belief that everything about owning alpacas is a privilege and that handling them makes a person feel wonderful. The finished garments made from their fleece are no exception. Alpaca is so luxurious, especially when worn next to the skin, that you fall in love with the animals all over again. Jude makes these garments doubly precious by producing one-off exclusive creations on commission. |

| In order to show solidarity with the agricultural community, we whole-herd Tb test annually. | |

| As much as possible we support local people and local events. For this reason we belong to the Hawkes Bay Alpaca Cluster Group, attend the Hawkes Bay A&P Show, and have our yarn spun at Mesa Mill in Hawkes Bay. We are known throughout the Central Hawkes Bay community for visiting old people's homes, schools and making our alpaca farm available for those who would like to come and look at these gentle creatures. | |
